@ben_h: Sorry for the late reply, I never got a notification of this posting... But thank you for the comment and read. Yeah It was bonkers to me that there were so many locked characters, and I get that they need to give you a reason to keep coming back and playing the game, but locking Mario is just Bonkers. However, you are right that this game and golf games in general are best played in moderation. It is easy to burn yourself out trying to "beat" or unlock everything so quickly, I would only play about a course a day, which suited me just fine, but it also didn't motivate me to try and unlock all the extras this game had.

I feel this is a personal attack on me.. and I won't stand for it! I play mahjong huntress because it's fun, damnit.. and I won't tolerate someone saying that I had to force myself through it for made up reasons.

I challenge you to now start playing "all walls must fall" (its probably on sale) until you get the good ending.

Nah.. I'm kidding, it's fun to play smaller games.. sometimes you just want a bite size game you can have fun with and finish before it's warts start to show.

@zombiepie: yeah.. it's a really weird part, there is nothing else really like it in the rest of the game. (Unless you count the random QTE at the end of disc 3)

This series is right up my alley... so I will be watching it (or reading) very closely. Neither of these games I have tried, but Marvel suns is certainly on my short list.

Follow up question, what if I don't care about warhammer, will I still enjoy a game around it?

Holy cow! I think nearly every place on this list I disagree with it, which is why I love this list! Good job!

I wanted to drop in and say.. yay! Glad you are back, but also to secretly see what I can pluck from your list of games to play. I might have to give neon abyss a play as I see it in the store a lot but never pull the trigger on it.

Hope to see you post more

I legit, just started this about 2 days ago, so granted I'm not very far in (only cleared the first area), but yeah game seems alright. I agree the QR code stuff is annoying, because while the steam page tells you, that you aren't missing anything critical by not doing them... you always want to know what is behind the door.

I know your "pain" all too well. During the 360 Era I was obsessed with achievements and the website trueachievements.com. I was doing so much in the name of getting achievements that I actually kind of lost sight of what I like about video games.

I know everyone has this story, but I was playing really bad games for easy achievements, and I was prioritizing games based on how easy it would be for me to get achievements rather then what I wanted to play. If a game had a discontinued achievement (either through server shut down, or bugged) I would flat out not play the game, because it would hurt my percentage.

I'm not saying you are at this level, but for me I had to rip the bandage off, because it was an obsession that was ruining my hobby. I purposefully opted to get a ps4 over an Xbox x, because it would stop me from playing for achievements (yes playstation has trophies, but I've never cared about them).

It is incredibly freeing to get back to playing games, without trying to "maximize" time vs achievements. Now I can play a game, roll credits and be done with it, instead of having to 100% all collectibles, or play 500 matches online.

This isn't a comment saying you should stop, because only you can decide that, but like you said.. the higher it goes the harder it will be to shut off. You might have to hard code an end date (365 or 500), otherwise you might be in for a long haul, or setting up achievements, buying bad games and spending more time researching achievement progress then actually playing.

I wish you the best

@onemanarmyy: damn, do we have to be sworn enemies? You seem cool, but I guess such is life.. Don't get me wrong, I played GK3 when I was like 14 and haven't touched it since, I could replay it and absolutely love it, but as of now I only have one fond memory of it.

I will eventually play GK2, have it installed on the deck already, but I might give it some time before diving in.

However, I will say that I have a hard time seeing either GK2 or 3 surpass my love of this game.

As always, thanks for the read.

@zombiepie: thanks for the read and comment. I would be very interested to read that write up. I think there are some rough call outs here (clock puzzle) and even the temple puzzle, but I do wonder if my nostalgia blinds my eyes towards other "difficult" puzzles.
