Overview
Tetris Evolution is a falling-block puzzle game developed by Mass Media and published by THQ for the Xbox 360 in North America on March 19, 2007 and in Europe on April 7, 2007.
The last game in the Tetris series to be released by THQ (after Tetris Worlds and Tetris Elements), Tetris Evolution is the second to bring the series into HD (after the Japanese-exclusive Tetris: The Grand Master ACE) and features a variety of gameplay modes, along with online multiplayer support via Xbox Live and customizable player themes.
Game Modes
- Marathon - Standard scored Tetris, with players choosing if the game is endless or if it ends after completing Level 15.
- Ultra - Score Attack variant, where players have a limited amount of time to score as many points as they can. Can choose between one, three, and five minutes.
- Cascade - Similar to Marathon (endless only), but line clears cause all tetrominoes (broken and unbroken) above that line to unlock and fall, potentially causing a cascade of line clears.
- Race - Time Attack variant, where players race against the clock to clear a certain amount of lines. Can choose between 10, 25, and 40 lines.
- Score - Time Attack variant, where players race against the clock to score a certain amount of points. Can choose between 5000, 10000, and 25000 points.
- Hotline - Similar to Cascade, but line clears are only scored if they are in one of 6 marked lines throughout the playfield.
- Go Low - Similar to Marathon, but line clears are only scored if they are in the bottom four rows of the playfield.
- Eraser - Similar to Hotline, but players race against the clock to clear a certain amount of marked lines from the playfield by clearing a line on them. Can choose between 4, 6, and 8 lines.
