Ocarina of Time has aged with perfect grace. 4

Ocarina of Time is without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time.  I wouldn't even know where to rank it.  It's probably not my favorite Zelda though, I would give that to Link to the Past without a hesitation.  I played through Ocarina of Time, from start to finish this week for the first time in 8 or 9 years.  I was amazed at how much I remembered, and that's a good thing.  Orcarina of Time is hardly a forgettable game.  This was the sole reason I bought an N64.  I eventually picked up ...

    The first 3D Action-Adventure masterpiece 0

Ocarina of Time was the new benchmark for action-adventure games at the time, it created a new standart that it was impossible to think any game would do it again. When the game started I wasn't so sure of how good it would be, the games strenght was in its dungeons, having some real cool puzzles and sense of discovery. But then, the master sword + time sequence happen (I won't spoil) and the game completely blew me away. It changed even the gameplay, but most amazingly, the new setting, giving a ...

    Defining a Classic 2

It is hard to look at a game almost eleven years after it's release, and say something new that has not been said already. It is hard even define what makes a game like Ocarina of Time so memorable, so fantastic to gamers and reviewers alike. Not only is this the return of one of the greatest franchises in history, but it  is arguably one of the greatest games ever conceived.   IT is one of the timeless stories ever; rescuing a princess and embarking on an epic quest against the forces of evil...

A true classic loaded with quality and nostalgia 0

Ocarina of Time was revolutionary, without a doubt. It showed people what games can do and provided an enjoyable experience for those who played it back in the day. I have never appreciated OoT as much as most people do, but I still love it. OoT puts you in control of a young boy who lives in a forest village and is chosen by the Deku Tree to, well, save the world. Eventually he visits Hyrule and acquires the Ocarina of Time, which he must use to visit the future and defeat his enemy, Ganon, the...

Experience the legend that defined them all once again 0

Zelda: Ocarina of Time has perfected everything about the Zelda formula back in 1998. It was hailed (and still is) as the best videogame ever created. Even today, this game is admired by many to have shaped 3D gaming and Zelda gaming alike. Every gamer who played the game back then can recall one of the best experience he/she ever had in video gaming or in some cases; in their entire life! This marked a new era back in 1998, but not every gamer had the chance to experience such a gem which is wh...

Overblown Comparisons; or the Homeric Ocarina. 1

If ever there was a representation of the collective mythoi of our society in video game form; traversing the traditional narrative of a journey of discovery, growth and maturity, it would undoubtedly be, for me, Ocarina of Time. I'm here saying this not as a rabid fan, but as someone who recently returned to the classic, with mild appraisal, intent on evaluating what about this experience tapped into so many young gamers back in 1998. The core success in Ocarina lies in the way Nintendo gears ...

    Nearly perfect 0

The Zelda series has always held a dear place in many a gamer's heart, mine included. I could rant about the history of the series or of Link himself, but there's really no point. Let's get right to the point.Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda in the entire franchises up to and including Twilight Princess. It does almost everything perfectly. The graphics were phenominal, the gameplay and combat was terrific, the story was great (for the most part), as was the sound. What can I say about this game...

The Game that changed a Generation 0

The Legend of Zelda has stood the test of time, and continues to be on the greatest games ever to come to a gaming console. The Legend of Zelda is a perfect game and that is with no doubt. The Legend of Zelda started off on the NES and was a huge immersing world even without the 3-D realm. But now Nintendo has expanded the game and the legend into a game that cannot be surpassed by anyone else. The game begins with a boy dreaming in a small room. He then is awoken by a small fairy name Navi. The...

The best Virtual Console game you'll ever see. 0

Absolutely no words can describe how good this game is.  The game literally sucks you in as soon as you grab the controller and start the game.   This is the most epic and without a doubt the best game I have ever played.  The storyline is absolutely captivating, and it leaves you curious and wanting to see more.  The graphics may not be the best out there, but I'm here to tell you that graphics are not everything, gameplay is.  The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a game of substance, length...

    The Game of Legends 0

To me, "Ocarina of Time" is one of the greatest games ever made as well as my personal favorite Zelda game...At the time of creation this game was a huge step forward for the series being the first 3D rendered Zelda game. Originally meaning to be run on the same engine as Super Mario 64 the thought was scarped and the game was created in such a way that it went over and above what they could have done on the original system. The look isn't all though, graphics don't make a game, the gameplay and...

    Fantastic! 0

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the ultimate classic adventure and the closest a game has and ever will get to pure perfection. It is deserving of recognition, preservation and access by future generations for its cultural, historical and aesthetic importance. It is the pinnacle of artistic video game wonder and one of the finest summations of art known to mankind. For a young boy, this was one of his greatest and most epic journey that he has ever undertaken....

A highly well-executed transition into the third dimension. 3

The jump to the third dimension is always a risky move for a traditionally 2D series. Obviously, the addition of another dimension will drastically change how a series operates, sometimes changing it entirely. In fact, many series received heavy criticisms for their first attempts at 3D ( Sonic, Castlevania, Mega Man, etc.). The Legend of Zelda, fortunately, has avoided this fate with Ocarina of Time, its first foray into the third dimension. Although it’s not perfect, Ocarina of Time manag...

An unpopular opinion of a popular game 0

Brace yourselves, this one's gonna sting....The 3D Zelda games bore me. Okay, I can't say that with absolute certainty: I've never touched Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword. But the rest? Yawns aplenty. The most offensive to my sense of fun is the much-loved, oft-deified Ocarina of Time. Now I didn't have a Nintendo 64 as a lad, but I did have several opportunities to play, and a couple of them were for extended periods. I also ended up with it on two compilation discs for the Gamecube. Time an...

The most influential game ever made, But is a bit overrated 0

Ocarina of Time..... The game that everyone thinks is a 10/10 game.... Not to me. Don't get me wrong, I love this game but..... It is overrated. The StoryThe events of Ocarina of Time are set in the fictional kingdom of Hyrule, the setting of most The Legend of Zelda games. Hyrule Field serves as the central hub connected to several outlying areas with diverse topography. Most of these areas are populated by the races of Hyrule: Hylians, Kokiri, Gorons, Zoras, Gerudo, and Sheikah. That's all you...

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 has perhaps advanced the medium of video games more than any other single game in history. Just this week, for the first time in over a decade I made it to the end credits of this masterpiece, and after 13 years, it still holds up amazingly well.No longer flashy, but still effective.Ocarina of Time follows the story of "Link" (or whatever you decided to name him), a small child living within a magical forest of ever-young...

    Deserves the hype 0

The title of this review says it all. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time has everything gamers want in an adventure game. In terms of presentation, Nintendo brings out a top-notch performance. The music is epic as always, with the Gerudo Valley track being my favorite. It's true that the original overworld theme which Zelda fans  Always something new to exploreknow and love is missing. But it's not a big deal. The Forest and Shadow Temple tracks were creepy, while the tracks for the other tem...

Just beat this game for the first time and although its not the masterpiece everyone says it is, I had a ton of fun and it is definitely up there in my "favourite games" category.Plot: Link or [Insert your name here] is a boy who is a part of the Kokiri Race and lives in the Kokiri Forest. Link's destiny is with the help of the Seven Sages is to defeat the evil Ganondorf and restore peace to Hyrule.Gameplay: The gameplay was pretty good for the most part, just gets extremely frusterating because...

The game that made so many of us gamers. 0

Art & Music     The use of color in this game was one of its distinguishing features, as the dungeons and various zones would often characterize themselves by fully embracing a singular feature of the environment, such as a volcano or lake, and emphasize the feature by coloring and scoring each dungeon appropriately. In this, every dungeon in itself has a unique character, as such defeating a dungeon is the ultimate player vs environment, and beginning a new dungeon feels like embarking int...

Ocarina of Time is a game that no one should miss out on. 0

Ocarina of Time is one of the most groundbreaking games to ever be created, it showed everyone how adventure games are to be made, and as result of that many franchises have used Ocarina of TIme's formula to build their game upon.  Ocarina of Time's story is excellent, like most Zelda games, and it pulls the player in as they get farther into the story.  The protagonist, Link starts off as a young boy destined to destroy the the King of Evil, Ganondorf.  The player is taken to multiple dungeons ...

As nearly any gamer now knows, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the beginning of the Zelda saga, portraying the first time that the destinies of Link, Zelda, and Ganon become intertwined with the fate of the ever-powerful Triforce. Back WAY when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time just came out it was all the rage. It featured new 3D graphics (which by today's standard doesn't matter as much) and in depth gameplay and story. If you have never played a Zelda game this one would be a good place to start because it can be accessed readily and it is the best game in the series (Arguably). Another trait that really pops out at you is the level design. Every Temple has a puzzle that you need to figure out and at the end of a Te...

I was 9 when I got this game for christmas, I immediately began to play it. At this age I found the game particularly challenging, but I was never frustrated to point where I would call it quits. Now at the age of 18 this is still my most played and most enjoyed game of all time. Ocarina of Time is a fairly long game but never in the three or four times I have played through this game have I ever felt board or as if the story was being stretched to thin. Since this Zelda title in my opinion ther...

    Amazing Game 0

This game comes just about as close to perfect as you are going to get, without actually achieving it. This game follows along perfectly with the rest of the Zelda series, while still going its own way and showing off that some innovation can be a good thing, when done in moderation. In a series so impressively popular, this game not only lives up to the hype, but sets a new bar for future games to achieve. Basically, this game takes and old thing and makes it better. The plot of this game is...

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is THE GREATEST video game that I've ever played (and I've played quite a few video games in my time). Now, before I begin, I'm going to make one thing perfectly clear: I am reviewing this game in respect to games in 1998. I am absolutely sick and tired of people bragging about how "Elder Scrolls" or "Final Fantasy X" is SO much better than Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time because of their "superior graphics" and "superior game play system" and ect. Thought it was not the first game I have ever played it was the first that I ever played until the end credits, and I loved every second of it.  From the very beginning of the game, as Link awakens from his dream of Zelda's narrow escape from kidnapping and his encounter with Ganon, this is a masterpiece.  For their time the controls and graphics were revolutionary.  Though the graphics are definitely showing their age, they still maintain the charm that makes them so appealing despite their lac...
