I like Jan's discussions about his life before GB. This whole thing is turning into a personal diary...hard games like BB will push you to the edge till your just one with your thoughts XD.

Can some fans correct me if im wrong. I have phantom memory of Jan mentioning that he worked for Mythbusters...is this true?

PS: I beat BB yesterday. Never had a problem beating most bosses or the game but the grind and blood vial grind was my weakness and made me take so long. Had the game for years. Kirk hammer full game over leveled at 70

@topcyclist: He was indeed a camera operator for “Mythbusters” and “Mythbusters: The Search”.

I really hope he takes a look at the dark souls series after this. He has the itch now after playing this.

Welp, you tried Jan but NPC hunters don't mess around. They're very aggressive. The chat got it right. Equip the Moon rune that gives you more Blood Echoes to make grinding for materials and armor much easier. That NPC hunter is weak against poison. While poison knives are pricey, they're worth getting. I would buy at least 10 of them for this fight since they really do help fo this fight. If you stand near the entrance of the cathedral after poisoning him, he'll eventually turn around and go back to his spot. Watch the numbers go up and hopefully he'll eventually die if not be close to death.

Because this NPC is using the Chikage, in the tricked out form he sacrifices some of his HP to use it. Hence why you saw his health decrease and heal up. If you want to stop him from healing, throw a Numbing Mist at him. I'm sure you got this so no worries.

As for what to do next, you still got the Nightmare of Mensis to do (where the freakish looking wolves are). You'll have to take cover behind pillars as you make your way to the other side of the bridge. You'll probably several times as you make progress but it's all good. As far as I know, you beat all the optional bosses in the main game.

As for when to access the DLC, you have two more bosses to go before the end game so you have time. But make no mistake, the DLC is harder than the base game. The enemies hit harder and the bosses are VERY aggressive so be prepared. Best of luck.

Jan good Idea for this the hunter, don't go for parrys and bait out 1 attack at a time. Plus when he activates his chikage definitely back off and he'll hurt himself more then you

As annoying as that hunter fight is Jan nearly bested him that one time - he was basically one dodge-and-punish away from winning. So I think he's got it. This might be one of those encounters where he logs on after a break and gets it on the first try. Souls games are weird that way. Sometimes you really need a hard break to reset. The most recent Souls type game where this happened to me was Surge 2 where I was literally banging my head against a boss over and over again, and then I easily beat him the next day on my first attempt.

Jan says every time that he's rusty, might stop playing, or didn't want to play but just end up dominating each stream! Ever since you took down BSB it feels like the game has really clicked, you're just one area and two bosses away from an ending.

That said this might be the time to look into tackling the DLC, it's a decent length and probably the hardest content of this game, but there are so many cool sights to see and new weapons to check out that it should not be missed. You don't wanna do it first thing's first on NG+

I've given up on tips since Jan's rocking it :p
As for grinding though I still want to point out trying again with 1st floor lecture hall using a +echoes and a +items rune, they drop a decent amount of echoes per run as well as bullets, which you're lacking rn. (wheelchair guys will also net you quite a few per kill, just go after gun dudes a lot).
If you're having trouble with goopy guys, anything with fire will usually 1-shot them at your level, get something with wide sweeps and go to town.

There are also runes that replenish ammo on viscerals, but you missed the best main game one by going to Iosefka late, the other one is found in chalice dungeons, or er.. killing the nun.

As for the hunter in the chapel: Bait parries (npc hunters tend to dodge into attack combos or shooting), learn when he tends to shoot and avoid those, and let him screw himself over on using the Chikage (drains health in transformed state, drains more on a transformed charge attack).
Poison knives are a good secondary damage source but best used while he's attacking or applying his teleport dodge buff, somewhere where he's locked in an animation.

Wow congrats Jan!

Currently playing through Bloodborne for the first time myself and finally defeated Ebrietas right before watching this after several days and dozens of attempts; Seeing Jan eviscerate the poor girl on his fourth (?) try gives me mixed emotions...

In my defense, it was solo and using a saw cleaver but it's still a hollow defense nonetheless. On the upside I turned Horse Knight Ludwig inside out right after defeating Ebrietas, so I'll hold onto this small victory :')

I won't be able to watch this for a while but I REALLY hopes he finds the wheel based on the thumbnail. I can't remember what he needs to do to finish the quest with Arthur(?). The wheel and the pizza cutter from the DLC were my favorite weapons. Spin to win, Jan!

Jan, you're doing awesome!

A suggestion before you play again for real if you're up for it;

Grind a bit for either Souls or Bullets and Vials. For a large portion of the game, it's actually cheaper to grind for souls, and then buy bullets and vials from the shop. I think you're far enough in the game to where that is not a viable option any more (those items become kind of pricey now).

So try and accumulate as many Bullets and Vials as you can, since you'll need them going forward, and you can obviously bank any extras you get (up to 600 total now IIRC). Once you start the DLC, you're not going to want to leave to farm.

And you've got that NPC Hunter in the Church. You just hit some bad luck.

My first GB post ever, long time first time and all that jazz. Keep it up Jan!! Rooting for you while I work from home and try to pay attention to other calls. Fellow coworkers certainly don’t understand why I occasionally stand up and raise my hands in celebration. This is fantastic and loving every minute of it. Thank you!!!

I really feel like Jan would find the quality of life issues ironed out between Bloodborne and Sekiro would have him feeling like Sekiro is baby mode for From games. Jan. What if I were to tell you there’s stamina meter to watch in Sekiro? You can run all day and swing your sword to your heart’s content. Oh! And no more grinding for healing items!

The grinding for healing items thing was already solved in Dark Souls. No idea why they regressed to the other system.

Naw. Sincere. I remember him mentioning something once but i thought it was a joke then it went into memory...didnt hear him say he was a camera op so i assumed actor...didnt see him on show...but dont watch that show much after season 2. Barely tune in to Jan stuff myself just out of chance. Long story short...just never confirmed it for myself and i skim the videos since im short on time so if he mentioned it i missed it.

Does Jan have any projectiles he can throw? At the end of the Martyr Loagrius fight it seemed like a great time to chuck something at him.

@roadshell: I was thinking more like the checkpoints before bosses being A LOT more conveniently placed. Also, only having one weapon and a few offensive prosthetic tools made it easier for me to concentrate instead of experimenting and going down the wrong path (weapons, stats, etc) and ultimately getting frustrated and quitting. Oh, and you can teleport to an idol/lamp/bonefire whenever, no consumable items. Plus being able to pause and reconfigure the controls were pretty big.

@janman Go find Alfred before you do anything else. Give him the Unopened Summons you found in the Cainhurst Throne Room. He should be where you saw him last, between Cathedral Ward and Forbidden Woods.

Jan, you’re doing great. Certainly better than I did on my first playthrough. This NPC hunter is the hardest npc fight in the game and I honestly have never been able to best him in a fair fight. I usually end up exploiting a quirk in his AI attack patterns that I discovered by accident. Whenever the hunter starts slowly walking toward me, not running toward me, I found I can fully charge a heavy weapon R2 attack and, if I get the timing right, he walks right into it. He dodges this attack when he’s running so I just keep away from him until he starts doing his slow walk toward me again.

People saying Ebrietas and Logarius are the hardest vanilla bosses...why did you lie to Jan? Why didn't you save that moniker for this hunter fucker?
